For total console efficiency the Xbox does so much whilst being so simple

True. But ps3 offers an all round media experience; Bluray, bbc iplayer, itv player, 4od, love film, free online gaming, as well as a host of AAA game titles
Plus built in wifi, something Xbox only recently added to the new S model, but the wifi router is still £50 upwards

They had time to see and improve on it
Plus xbl now links to your sky player, Zune movies, Last FM, All kinect usable, So you don't even need a controller.

Sky player is pretty cack to be fair. I have a sky box sat next to my Xbox/PS3/Wii. And as good as kinect is in regards to innovation, it's not practical in terms of replacing a controller

Like the human brain, its potential has been barely tapped, I think there is so much potential for it.

I agree it's very clever and technically sound, I just feel it doesn't appeal to the hardcore gamer, it's games of present are just HD wii clones

Yes, But this has more time to flourish, And Microsoft are investing so much in the Xbox; time and money, So many updates, New software etc
Sony doesn't seem to do anywhere near as much.

The PS3 is 3D enabled, the Xbox isn't and won't ever be, at least the 360 anyway. And even though I feel 3D is nowhere near good enough just yet, it'll soon be as standard as HD

3D is so expensive at the moment it has no practical applications
Everyone doesn't have a 3D TV, Not everyone has HD.
But HD is more accessible, Its a selling point. 3D just isn't at the moment.

I agree, but it's still a vital factor for technology. And as 3D grows, so will the consumer need for it. I'm not a fan of 3d, as it's still pretty un-tampered.
But as a source of gaming and movies, it's going to play a vital role in the future.

By the time 3D is available at cheaper rates and the technology improves Microsoft will have a new console out

There won't be a new Xbox for ages, Microsoft have lost far too much money with both the 360 and the original Xbox, as has Sony with the ps3

The best thing about the 360 is its online community and content.
They won't be able to capture that on a portable console for a while, Wi fi spots etc are far to limited

The NGP has supposedly got 3G aswel as wifi. Online isn't everything, I'd much rather have an awesome single player game than a good online one.
Plus you're forgetting the success of smartphones and the iPod touch. There are plenty of online games On the iPhone Gamecentre
